  • Intra oral examination of the lips, oral mucosa, hard and soft palate, tongue, floor of the mouth, and salivary flow
  • Risk assessment for caries (cavities)
  • Assessment of existing restorations, missing teeth, abfraction, erosion, pulp vitality, dry mouth, sensitivity, pain and discomfort
  • Periodontal assessment - bleeding on probing, gingival health and  inflammation, periodontitis, and signs of disease progression - recession, clinical attachment level, and tooth mobility

Scaling & Root Planing

Scaling is the process of removing plaque and tartar (calculus) from the surfaces of the teeth both above and below the gum line to treat gum disease.   Root planing is the process of smoothing rough root surfaces making it harder for bacteria to reattach to the root surface.

Dental Implants

It is essential to remove plaque and calculus from dental implants just as it is with natural teeth. Our hygienists are comfortable cleaning stand alone dental implants, implant supported bridges, and implant supported dentures.

Cavity Prevention

Fluoride Varnish

This  2.5%  sodium fluoride varnish is applied at the end of the dental hygiene treatment and adheres to the tooth surface for several hours. It is used to help remineralize the tooth surface, prevent decay and address dental sensitivity

Silver Diamine Fluoride (SDF)

SDF offers the possibility of arresting or slowing the progression of cavities in a non invasive, twice yearly application, that can help control pain and infection. This is an excellent option for clients that are unable to be seen for extensive dental treatment in a traditional dental office setting. The downside is potential for the affected tooth surface to be stained black.

Oral Health Education

Regular assessments are important to ensure that dentures continue to provide optimal function, comfort, and oral health for the client. Dirty dentures can harbor harmful bacteria increasing the risk of oral infections. Proper cleaning helps reduce this risk and supports overall oral health.

Oral Health Education

Oral health education for clients, family and caregivers is essential, especially when caring for individuals who may have difficulty maintaining their oral hygiene independently. Proper education equips both the client and their caregivers with the knowledge and skills to ensure their oral health and well-being.

Referrals & Health Collaboration

We are pleased to provide a referral to a trusted dentist or denturist if you do not already have one.

Collaborative care involves healthcare professionals from different fields working together. This approach helps address the interconnectedness of oral health and overall health, ultimately improving patient outcomes and quality of life.
