Scaling is the process of removing plaque and tartar (calculus) from the surfaces of the teeth both above and below the gum line to treat gum disease. Root planing is the process of smoothing rough root surfaces making it harder for bacteria to reattach to the root surface.
Dental Implants
It is essential to remove plaque and calculus from dental implants just as it is with natural teeth. Our hygienists are comfortable cleaning stand alone dental implants, implant supported bridges, and implant supported dentures.
Fluoride Varnish
This 2.5% sodium fluoride varnish is applied at the end of the dental hygiene treatment and adheres to the tooth surface for several hours. It is used to help remineralize the tooth surface, prevent decay and address dental sensitivity
Silver Diamine Fluoride (SDF)
SDF offers the possibility of arresting or slowing the progression of cavities in a non invasive, twice yearly application, that can help control pain and infection. This is an excellent option for clients that are unable to be seen for extensive dental treatment in a traditional dental office setting. The downside is potential for the affected tooth surface to be stained black.
Regular assessments are important to ensure that dentures continue to provide optimal function, comfort, and oral health for the client. Dirty dentures can harbor harmful bacteria increasing the risk of oral infections. Proper cleaning helps reduce this risk and supports overall oral health.
Denture labeling - COMING SOON!
Oral health education for clients, family and caregivers is essential, especially when caring for individuals who may have difficulty maintaining their oral hygiene independently. Proper education equips both the client and their caregivers with the knowledge and skills to ensure their oral health and well-being.
We are pleased to provide a referral to a trusted dentist or denturist if you do not already have one.
