Jenna Smith DHP, BDSc
Jenna completed her Diploma in Dental Hygiene from Camosun College in Victoria, BC, in 2007. While working full time, she pursued a Bachelor of Dental Science (Dental Hygiene) from The University of British Columbia in Vancouver, BC. Over the past 16 years she has worked in both general private practice dental offices as well as the senior hygienist for a periodontist (gum specialist) in Kelowna, before returning home to Vernon in 2015 to work with Dr. Rex Hawthorne at Cornerstone Dental.
To Jenna, dental hygiene is more than just cleaning teeth - it is building relationships, and providing care that significantly impacts overall health. She actively maintains her continuing education credits, with a special focus on oral pathology and increasing access to care for vulnerable populations. Jenna volunteers her time with the Boys & Girls Club - educating preschool children on the importance of oral health. Jenna also helps coordinate Give Back Smile Back - a day of free dental care for at risk children under the age of 17 at Cornerstone Dental.
Jenna enjoys spending time with her family - her lovely step-daughters Roxy and Mabel, her husband Ryan and their chihuahua pug Charlie. They enjoy travelling as a family, especially taking the kids to concerts. In her spare time Jenna enjoys all that the sunny Okanagan has to offer - wine touring, boating, golfing, yoga, and camping at Mabel Lake. She is an avid flower gardener, and has a special interest in growing ranunculus and dahlias.
Ryan owns Valley Marine Vernon - a full service marine repair & storage facility, and Valley Grills - the local headquarters for all things BBQ; Both Jenna and Ryan believe that shopping locally and supporting small business is vital to a thriving community.
Jenna was born and raised in Vernon BC, and as a 4th generation Vernonite she is looking forward to providing exceptional dental hygiene care to your loved ones that are home bound or residing in assisted living & long term care facilities in the beautiful Okanagan Valley.
